We are happy to release our first in-depth profile of a Korean company, SL Corporation. Created as Samlip in 1954, SL now command a 67% share of the Korean domestic market and a worldwide market share of 7% from over 10,000 employees in nine plants in Korea, 10 plants round the world in Poland, the USA, China, and India and three engineering centres.
A wide range of technologies is represented in SL’s products including 25- and 35-watt HID, LED, AFS, and advanced dynamic lighting using their camera-based obstacle detection algorithms.
They have received the 5 Star award from Hyundai Motors and 18 consecutive QSTP awards from GM. Their strengths are a clear strategy, high level of technology, and success in camera-based ADAS, but their relatively low presence outside Korea presents challenges. They have a great ambition to equip the premium car market and vehicles of all segments in the China and India market.
In the report, DVN develops all this information with multifaceted data about the company, capped off by an interesting interview with Mr Lee Sung Yup, President of SL Corp.
