We are glad to publish this week our DVN Report on Auto China 2026, the Beijing auto show. It’s a biggie, over 160 pages! I utilized my visit to bring you a taste of the Chinese vehicle lighting market – for all the DVN readers who did not have the opportunity.
I am publishing all interviews I did during the auto show in this report, including those with Yanfeng Technology CTO Patrick Nebout and General Manager and Executive Committee member Ni Jiawen. These were really open discussions, and I am proud to share them with you so you can learn more about Yanfeng, one of the top 20 global tier 1s (and one of China’s top 5).
I also include data about the automotive market, so you can understand what is happening in China: automotive interior market down, export market up, etc; all of which shines light on the whole Chinese supply chain from OEM to tier 2 – and their expansion beyond China

Last week I was in China again, in the worlds’ most dynamic automotive region for me, a 300-km triangle between Jinhua, Nanjing, and Shanghai. It was an intensive week to understand how OEMs and tier-1 and -2 suppliers all coöperate to develop vehicles and lamps for them.
We will carry on covering supplier and OEM visits to spark thought about this region. I recommend to all my network to do a similar visit. In this triangle you see totally different cities, from the more modern ones like Hangzhou, where I met Leapmotor’s lighting team, to the real manufacturing old-fashioned playgrounds of Danyang and Jinhua.

I will condense this report this week that will be the focus of my keynote speech at our DVN Detroit event next week. Looking forward to meeting you there; already, 350 people are registered from more than 100 companies!
