Last week was intense! I’m not yet ready to do a proper summary of our US event. As usual, we are preparing our thorough report; in the meantime, all the presentations are available on the DVN website. It was a really great event with good audience attendance and participation from start to finish. We had strong participation from every segment and sector, notably OEMs who brought representatives from their studios, R&D, and purchasing; optical engineers, software engineers for our SDV deep dive, and even DRE (design release engineers) – the first DVN event for a lot of them. Fresh air was in the room with a lot of young engineers and designers, actively participating with plenty of questions. although the market is difficult, good vibes were afoot!
My major takeaway was the OEM lighting panel discussion with lighting leaders for an insightful discussion about team management, strategy, advice to the young newcomers and how they see the future of lighting. All in a super smooth and relaxed ambiance just before cocktail time. On stage, a lot of knowledge sharing and experience about lamp design with people who have made their whole career of it, at OEMs and tier-1s.
This week I am publishing also news about two great leaders who are retiring: Carlos Elvira, Seat Cupra’s Head of Lighting and Exterior, and Gunter Fisher, Head of Exterior R&D at Mercedes-Benz. Both of them will be rightly missed. Thank you Carlos and Gunter for your valuable career feedback!
