OLED is front-and-centre again in today’s DVNewsletter. As you read this, the DVN Detroit event has just opened, and OLEDWorks are showcasing their new technology. Last month I visited their manufacturing plant in Aachen to take a look at their OLED developments. In China I see more and more attraction to OLED, so it was time to update my knowledge about the state of the art.
Now I’ve just returned from China where I met my old friend Pierre – now design boss at Chery Fulwin – and I talked with him about their new T9L model, which has OLED rear lamps.
OLEDWorks also confirm they are supplying OLED rear lamps for the Audi Q4. Will the new Audi Nuvolari have OLEDs, too? Having seen the design, my guess is no, perhaps due to heat concerns with the engine nearby, but we must still wait and see.
In today’s DVNewsletter you’ll also find an analysis of the lamps on BYD’s Denza Z9, done under the auspices of A2MAC1 – as you may know, DVN provides expertise and support for A2MAC1’s lighting benchmarks and analyses. I was 100-per-cent sure this lamp was done with OLED, so had quite a surprise when I discovered it is in fact done with LEDs! Find details in the analysis.
Last but not least, we bring you information from Mind about microLED lighting on the new Wey V9X. Next week we’ll bring you my report on Yeolight, where I visited just after the Beijing auto show.
Best regards,
