I would like to thank all 330 attendees present today for the DVN Workshop at the Munich Airport Hilton hotel. I took great pleasure to welcome each of the 18 Car makers, 23 set makers, and 66 Tier 2s, in total over 100 companies, universities, and organisarions. I also would like to thank the 24 exhibitors who have presented such innovative products, and of course all 30 speakers for their crucial and fascinating contributions to the workshop.
This being a time when so many things are changing in vehicular lighting, events like this are really a must—this is how we meet the strong interest of the lighting community to be aware of the latest innovations and to make and maintain lines of communication and strengthen the lighting community network.
Four parts will be in the workshop which started today:
- 30 lectures including nine from automakers’ lighting bosses: Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, JLR, Renault, SEAT, Ford, PSA, and GM;
- Round Table, a brainstorming on future of digital light, with the task to discuss pros and cons about digital light. This round table chaired by Audi’s Wolfgang Huhn will assemble ten of the greatest worlwide experts;
- Presentation of demonstration cars, cars recently launched presenting the coming technologies of the next years, and cars equipped with prototypes representing the technologies coming in the next decade, and
- Awards ceremony with presentations to eight companies who presented the most important innovations in these last ten years since the start of DVN.
I remind you the new DVN Workshop App can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play. With this handy new app you get all the information about the workshop, complete with interactive participation tools, and also the newsletter and reports just released today: namely, the DVN Reports on NAIAS and CES by DVN Chief Editor Daniel Stern.
Sincerely yours
DVN President
