From time to time, I’ve wondered just how much benefit DVN Workshops add, given the existence of ISAL and VISION. In fact, each DVN Workshop has had more attendees than the previous one; the Shanghai Workshop has 370 people, after closing the registration list at 350 with a wait list of 20. That positively answers the question: with so many things changing in the vehicle lighting realm, these events are an indispensable must; that’s why more and more people attend each time. There is clearly strong and growing interest in the lighting and DA community to learn about the latest innovations in a real, live context with interaction and networking.
The Shanghai Workshop, which got under way today, has three parts:
- 25 lectures including six from automakers Audi, PSA, Nissan, Honda, Great Wall, and SAIC-VW; and seven from set makers AL, Hella, Mobis, Stanley, Valeo, XingYu, and ZKW.
- Panel session on regulations. It is more important than ever before to harmonise regulations in Europe, America, China, Japan, Korea, and the rest of the world. The panel session, led by GTB President Geoff Draper, will bring into focus the great stepwise progress and present challenges in devising regulations everyone can accept.
- Round Table on the future of automotive lighting, which will help the lighting community to better know the future of their professional field. Chaired by Audi’s Wolfgang Huhn, it will assemble ten of the greatest worlwide experts with the subject: “What are chances and risks of automotive lighting with the arrival of autonomous driving, car sharing, and increasing urbanisation, personalisation»
In other current events: the third DVN Report on simulation is now live. This report, built by Valeo Lighting Systems’ former R&D Director Jean-Paul Charret, is an updated complement to the first two DVN Reports on the subject.
And in the newsletter of 9 May, you will receive all the information concerning the big DVN study, led by six lighting veterans with the help of around 40 VIPs in the field, representing 9 OEMs, 7 set makers and 6 universities, “Impact of a changing Car Industry on Exterior Lighting: Evolution or Revolution? – Identify your success factors for the next decade”.
Sincerely yours
DVN President
