It’s relatively infrequent that we put out papers about vehicle rear lighting—more often we focus on front lighting and its enormous number and pace of innovations.
It occurs to me this is something an oversight; in rear lighting, too, we have a fast rate of innovations. Just in recent years we’ve seen perfect homogeneity in rear light bars with opaline film started with BMW, more and more sequential turn signals—a trend touched off by Audi, the Welcome Light with special dynamic effect started by Daimler, Adaptive Rear lighting Systems, and obviously there’s an exciting future unfolding in the rear-lights realm. Take a look at this week’s interview with Pascal Herlin, head of rear lighting activities at Automotive Lighting’s Tolmezzo facility.
Last week I visited AL, who showed me their new technologies before a night drive to see them in action. I was impressed by three new technologies: “S-Light”, “L-Light”, and a new laser module. Watch for a presentation of these new lights in a newletter to be published after the DVN Shanghai workshop. Speaking of which, it’s coming up soon, on the 25th and 26th of this month. 320 people representing over 30 different local car makers and 55 lighting companies have shown their interest for the event by registering their highest level and most knowledgable representatives and experts. There’s not a lot of space left; registration will close after the 350th attendee signs up, so if you want to come, sign up now.
Sincerely yours
DVN President
