The VISION Congress’ Scientific Committee gathered yesterday to discuss the congress and the feedback from attendees—all to improve the next congres in 2018.
Consensus is that the lectures were at a good level for lighting, though less so for Driver Assistance. The night drives were very fruitful for most of the attendees despite the long ride to arrive at Mortefontaine. But we have to improve the organization of these night drives to save time loosing and we also have to improve the poster process.
The committee have selected the best lectures, factoring in attendees’ feedback:
- Different Headlamp Beam Rating Tests – An Attempt to reflect Car Driver’s Needs? (M. Scholl, Automotive Lighting)
- BMBF-Project VoLiFa2020 – Results of the test car integrated LCD headlamp development (C. Schmidt, Hella)
- Affordable Full LED Headlamps with Lighting Signature for Mass-market(P-H. Matha, Renault)
A special ceremony will take place at the DVN US Workshop this coming January, to award the three best lecturers from VISION and and also from the Delhi and Tokyo DVN Workshops.
For the engineers and experts who could not attend VISION 2016, or for the attendees who did not catch all the information, we are pleased to release a photo-illustrated report on the congress. Most of the lectures are summarised with DVN commentary and analysis. Topics include:
Front lighting, with 3 main messages staying in mind:
- LED is the technology of the future. Many lectures showed the huge and anticipated progress in LEDS with high brilliance, the infinite possibilities in styling, and the arrival of more affordable LED headlamps with attractive energy consumption for the medium and low segment, all of these factors leading to a probable take rate much higher than expected a few years ago;
- Great future of ADB; several lectures showed exciting potential with the arrival of pixels, DMD, LCD, and MEMS technologies;
- Laser technology is becoming a reality even if the cost is still very high and all the validations are not finished.
Rear lighting with two main trends: OLED and new modes of communication.
Whether or not you were in Paris, do take a look at the report; it’s worth it!
