We are pleased to publish more information about Great Wall’s top-of-the-line Wey V9X PHEV SUV, following our short analysis in February. The V9X was part of our Beijing auto show report last week, and it was among the most interesting new vehicle lamp releases we saw at that show.
In this model, Wey have launched their Hi Light Smart Headlamp System. Developed and manufactured by longstanding DVN community member Mind, the system provides top-notch illumination, human-vehicle interaction, and active safety. The lighting system is deeply integrated with Wey’s ‘Coffee Pilot’ ADAS, allowing lighting to actively support and communicate driving states. The full-specification Hi Light system comes as standard equipment on the V9X PHEV.
The Hi Light system is designed to present a distinctive and balanced front-end signature. Its 1+1+1 axially-symmetrical layout comprises a central illuminated floating logo, flanked by stellar-ring style main lamp clusters and connected by a full-width LED light band. The lower bumper contains distinctive vertical daytime running/cornering lights. This lighting configuration is standard across all V9X variants, both standard and long-wheelbase.

The system is built around high-precision LED and microLED pixel-based lamps. This hardware enables finely detailed light control and projection capabilities, far surpassing traditional lighting modules in resolution and functionality.
The Hi Light system’s features include:
- Superior illumination and adaptability: It supports ADB and curve-following functions. It provides around 500 metres of high-intensity high-beam range.
- Interactive Road projection: With microLED technology, the system can project information onto the road surface, including navigation cues and six types of driving-assistance projections. It also features three standard and up to 11 festival-specific welcome animations.
- Proactive safety alerts: The system integrates with the vehicle’s sensors to provide lane departure and collision warning signals via light cues, acting as a beacon to alert the driver (and, potentially, surrounding vehicles).
The Hi Light system is slated for application on forthcoming hybrid and battery EV versions of the V9X as well; Wey are committed to cementing intelligent lighting as a core pillar of their vehicle technology and safety offerings.
