LED applications in vehicle lighting will exceed a 50 per cent adoption rate for global newly-released vehicles within the next three years. Of course, adoption rates will differ by region; Europe and the wealthier ECE markets; Japan; Korea; and China, for example, are out in front of North America, which is in front of Central and South America; India and Southeast Asia.
Automakers and tier-1 suppliers are working hard to further this trend, and they contribute a lot of brilliant technologies to that end. Their efforts are supported by the evolution of the LED light sources and associated optical technology and technique, and in this report, we describe the topography of the relevant portions of the LED industry.
We provide short sketches of where advanced LED sources are needed to enable advanced applications. We discuss market expectations for LED light sources and give an overview about market positions of the top 10 LED light source suppliers, followed by company profiles of these companies.
Finally, we give the DVN view on the future of the LED light source market. Our predictions and forecasts are based on own information, along with valuable insights from within the industry. We organised short interviews with four tier-1 lighting suppliers and three LED light source suppliers; you’ll find them in the appendix to this report.
