This week I’m excited to present in-depth coverage of Valeo’s Visibility business group, mainly about R&D. Our presentation is based on my visit to Bobigny, where these activities are centred, and includes interviews with three R&D/marketing directors: Christophe Le Ligné, Laurent Evrard, and Benoist Fleury.
I’m very grateful to them all for opening the doors of the Bobigny centre to me and answering my questions.
I retain four main important points:
- Lighting faces interesting challenges including management of growth, technological shifts, and competencies in context of accelerating digitalisation.
- There’s a bright future for lighting activity with today’s rapidly evolving technology—even for cars without human drivers.
- The digitalisation of light is inevitable; it will be the linchpin of lighting innovations for the next ten years.
- Promotion has to be improved so automakers, setmakers, researchers, regulators, and car buyers all send and receive consistent, productive messages about proliferating technologies.
There’s a lot more to it than that, so dive on in and have a look in this week’s news.
Greetings from ISAL, which is just getting under way as this goes live,
