When I was much younger, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Alejandro Mesonero, head of Alfa Romeo design, on a variety of projects at Renault – the Laguna Coupé and the Renault Samsung SM5 and SM7 – and we have kept in contact all along our careers.
Recently we decided to have a talk about Alfa Romeo DNA and how it works for lighting. During my time as a lamp engineer, I often found Alfa’s lamp designs intriguing. Things like the fully-red rear lamp with visible chrome on the Brera, 147, and 159, and headlamps without an outer lens on the Brera.
When you open the concept car box, some crazy ideas can be found with unique possibilities for Alejandro to reimagine concepts like the Navajo.

Alfa Romeo is a super creative brand, with three consistent basic pillars: Rosso, Italia, and Sportivita
I bring you our Alfa Romeo discussion a week before Paris auto show, where they’ll be unveiling their new Cuorerosso concept car. I’m looking forward to discovering it!
In the meantime, please enjoy this visit into Italian design.
