The Tokyo motor show closed two days ago. Next week, Driving Vision News will present all the lighting and driver assistance information from the show in our report “Tokyo motor show 2009”.
The show was largely populated with Japanese automakers. Nevertheless, there were two points of focal interest for us:
1) Large number of new Japanese cars, production and concepts
2) Presence of main of Japanese lighting suppliers and worldwide driver assistance suppliers.
With so many new Japanese models, we glean a better sense of the forthcoming trends of these car makers and the confirmation of their first priority of energy reduction which means for lighting suppliers wattage reduction, weight reduction and depth reduction.
Over the last few years, more and more European and American lighting suppliers are skipping the motor shows, making it difficult to benchmark them. The presence for example on lighting of Koito or the presence on driver assistance of Hitachi emphasized the high dimension of these two companies on innovations. We aren’t seeing so much of that lately from European and American suppliers.
The Tokyo motor show report will present all the products of exhibiting Tier 1 suppliers including Koito, Hitachi, Denso, Stanley, Bosch, Asahi Denso, Gentex, Gosei, and others. Stay tuned, and as always, thanks for being a part of the DVN community!
Sincerely yours
