From a total of more than 70 abstracts, 33 have been selected by the Scientific Committee comprising the world’s main experts in crash research, lighting systems, and driver assistance systems.
The 33 papers come from around the world: Australia, Japan, Israel, the US, Germany, Nederland, Sweden, Italy, and France.
Car makers BMW, PSA, VW, and Renault; Tier-1 OEMs Autoliv, Automotive Lighting, Bosch, Continental, Delphi, Denso, Hella, Hitachi, Koito, Mobileye, NEC, Valeo, and Visteon; and universities Darmstadt, Parma and Michigan (Ann Arbor) will each present one or two papers.
The papers will present works done to improve safety in bad conditions of traffic: pedestrian visibility, multifunction camera, DRL, near and far IR, AFS, adaptive front lighting, full LED, and levelling devices. Other papers cover simulation, style, visual perception and architecture.
The 2008 VISION congress will be held in Versailles, France on the 7th and 8th of October. 200 professionals are expected. On the night of the 7th, lighting on 20 demo cars will be tested on a private 5km circuit.
