As you know, DVN is commited to focusing each month on a company involved in lighting. We publish a detailed analysis of a lighting system recently launched, then a week later we bring you an interview with the involved manager. These two-part profiles are to put you in a good position to know the company, their strategy, and the personality and vision of their management.
In the coming months, watch for DVN presentations on the lighting achievements of BMW, Jaguar, and ZKW. Right now it’s Renault’s turn; this week you’ll find a report on my visit to the Renault Technocentre in Guyancourt, close to Paris. You will discover, as I did, Renault’s lighting achievements and their strategy. I was impressed by the resources devoted to innovation and the willingness of Renault to be among the great innovators in lighting with dual targets of good light and styling differentiation. A particularly intriguing part of the visit was to the CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment), a simulator of the interior of the car with a definition of 4096 × 4096 pixels. It’s a new tool for Renault engineering, completing their complement of top-notch virtual reality systems—including their night simulator I visited two years ago.
Don’t forget the two important events in October in Paris: the Mondial motor show in Porte de Versailles and the VISION Congress which will be held this year at the famous Cité des Sciences with night drives at Mortefontaine for the night drives.
Sincerely yours
DVN Editor in Chief
