Lighting is one of the automotive activities with the most frequent major events. It’s a veritable alphabet: ISAL, VISION, IFAL, DVN Workshops, SAE Congress, ISOL, CES…and all of these meetings and shows are a great lever for progress in all sectors of our community. But with so many events scheduled without coördination, many of them separated by long distance, would-be attendees and participants find themselves faced with unpleasant choices. That detracts from the attendees and from the events alike. To avoid it, we need to better synchronise our world’s events. How about this:
• Each event would take place not oftener than every 2 years;
• Not more than one event per country per year;
•Two levels of lighting congresses: one primarily focused on building community and communication, and the other for high-level ectures followed by deep discussion among experts.
Even the SAE or IFAL could organize their lighting-related event every 2 years; I am sure the participation will be better that way. The lighting community gathers several thousand people, and all deserve to attend one congress every two years in their respective country. I propose to launch some discussions with the representatives of these organisations with the target to better synchronise the lighting events and I will come back to you. Your own feedback and ideas are enthusiastically invited; please share them with us!
Sincerely yours
