Since the dawn of DVN, each and every Tuesday—without interruption—the weekly news has been delivered to all DVN members and subscribers. Likewise, every month we’ve published an in-depth report. This week brings the total to 390 editions of the weekly news and 94 reports.
The DVN team works hard all week to build, write, edit, and publish the latest news and views from all over the vehicle lighting and ADAS world, as well as relevant general-industry news, retrospectives, and other items of interest. Always foremost in mind within DVN is how best to present useful, relevant, interesting information, and all along, we keep our eyes and ears open to make sure DVN membership is a good value for your money.
So how do we know whether we’re getting it right? By listening to you, our readers. We regularly receive feedback from DVN Gold members, and that guides our decisions in how to optimise DVN. But here’s the thing: only around 25% of those who receive the weekly news actually open and read it, or the monthly report. That keeps 75% out of the decision-making loop. We on the DVN team would like to see that 25% figure go up—substantially. Do you have an idea? If you don’t generally read the news, how come? Please share your thoughts with us; DVN is for you.
Of course we realise most DVN subscribers are daily and deeply involved in operational tasks and can get a glimpse at DVN only during short spared moments, often at home or during a flight. To help with that, you have access through visible links to a pdf version of the weekly news. You can download it, print it, and read it as and when you’re able. But this is 2015. Did you know you can easily view the weekly news from your smartphone synchronised with your email? It’s true, and it works pretty well. Of course, if you encounter any difficulty accessing DVN with your mobile phone or however else you prefer to do it, please let us know. We are keen to make your DVN access as easy and convenient as possible. The goal is to bring maximum useful information to the maximum number of community members. Mobile access is one of the tools we use to realise that objective.
Lighting technologies are changing very fast, and keeping an eye on what’s happening in the realm of our industry is of utmost importance for all of us. DVN Workshops consistently fill up with capacity crowds of 300 attendees—sometimes even more. But they only happen twice a year, and the weekly DVN Newsletters allow you to be permanently aware of what’s popping up.
Last week I read an interesting paper by Jesse Snyder. I do not know him personally but his paper explains very well what is the passion cars inspire—see this week’s presentation. In our community we also have plenty of passionate car lighting enthusiasts…and there’s always room for more!
In the newsletter, you will also see an interesting summary of IFAL done by Geoff Draper,
Sincerely yours
DVN Editor in Chief
