“How New Technology Will Enhance Night Driver Vision”
Since last January’s DVN workshop near Detroit, a good many car makers, suppliers, researchers and other DVN community members have asked if and when we’re doing another one. The same question has come up in SAE meetings and international venues, as well. I’m pleased to announce the answer is yes . Our next workshop will be on Tuesday, 15 January, 2013, during the North American International Auto Show. Once again this year, we’ll have a meet-and-greet soirée dinner the night before, on the Monday. The event will once again take place at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, close enough to Detroit for easy access to the auto show.
The rubric for the workshop is “How New Technology Will Enhance Night Driver Vision”. We’re putting special focus on laser-based headlamps, LEDs and OLEDs, vision sensors and image processing, novel vision systems, and simulation tools.
The overspanning purpose of the workshop is to catch the global trends in new and future driver vision systems, components, and strategies in the forthcoming decade in terms of technology and technique, geographical market penetration depth and width, lighting performance, and regulations. We’re expecting at least 150 attendees from around the world; of course, the specificities of the North American market will be the central subject.
In a very active and full day, we will have a docket of morning lectures and presentations by the best experts of each technology, podium panels, round-table discussions in the afternoon sessions, an exhibition area where suppliers will be able to display their products and services, and a great deal of high-level discussion and exchange of ideas during the welcome evening on Monday January 14.
It will allow a large exchange of experience, desires, and ideas among American, Japanese, Korean, and European participants on innovative technologies for automotive lighting. Mark the date!
Sincerely yours ,
DVN Editor in Chief
