Two weeks after the ISAL 2009 Symposium in Darmstatt, this report is meant for experts who were not present or attended the ISAL 2009 Symposium but missed some important lectures.
DVN has made the choice to select around one half of the proceedings with for each, a DVN comment on their content.
Selection was done in function of 3 criteria: Innovation, Time to market, Novelty of the information.
These lectures cover environmental and Physiological aspects, Xenon technologies and its constant progress, the benefits of Xenon 25W to improve safety and wattage consumption versus Halogen, LED technologies and its continuing improvements, as well as adaptive cut-off line and adaptive driving beam, plus combinations of several of these technologies.
DVN was especially interested by following lectures:
– Michael Hamm, AL presenting the concept of the “wattage index” and the effects of various light source technologies, styling and safety on CO2 emission.
– Christoph Schiller, TU Darmstatt, demonstrating that Xenon or LED do not increase discomfort glare
– Masao Okawa, Koito, presenting the LED perceived brightness 60% higher than halogen
– Osram and Philips presenting the Xenon 25W opportunities and acceptance features
– Several speakers presenting the progress of adaptive cut-off or adaptive Driving Beam
– LED matrix light or marking light from the 3 premium car makers
– Michael Kleinkes, Hella, presenting an interesting concept of performance/economy with VisioLED and EcoLED
ISAL 2009 was an exceptional Symposium with plenty of new lighting technologies becoming mature. ISAL 2009 report from DVN helps you to be aware of the technologies developed by your customers, your competitors or your suppliers.
