We’re getting great response to our recent report DRL as Brand Signature, and now we’re very proud to release our newest report totally focused on signal lamps, another strong lever for enhancing brand signature.
This report, the 25th published by DVN, contains 40 pages, 120 illustrations, technical information and interviews with key designers. We present a comprehensive look at the newest styling approaches and trends in all the many kinds of signal lights, and the concomitant improvements in safety performance.
Brand signature has a strong emotional character; accordingly, automakers seem willing—even in these tough economic times—to pay a lot more for these sorts of attributes than for lighting equipment that is merely functional and compliant. Signal lamps are increasingly employed as clear, unmistakable recognition features. A brand signature realised or reinforced with lighting equipment is particularly striking and noticeable due to its night and day design (lights on and off), its colour and, increasingly, its depth and texture aspects. It is strongly design driven yet still has to fulfill all the legal requirements of the various functions. Brand signature by lighting is aimed at differentiation from competitors’ vehicles. More and more, lighting brand signature design is extended to distinguish the base and the top-line versions of the same car model; lights that advertise their technical content advertise, by extension, the technical sophistication of the car as a whole. As a result more and more carmakers look for brand signed front position lamps, front turn indicators, DRL, side marker lamps & reflectors, stop/tail lamps, rear turn indicator, rear fog lamps, reverse lamps and special lights.
This report shares a complete overview on signal lamps, presenting clearly the new styling approach with substantial safety performance improvements. At the end of the report, Driving Vision News provides three suggestions to automotive lighting players, car makers and lighting suppliers tier 1&2. Give it a read!
