“LED technologies in Automotive Lighting” report just released.
Driving Vision News is very proud to publish the first in our ongoing series of reports about the state of the LED art in the automotive exterior lighting field. In 65 pages and 150 illustrations, curves, plots, and sheet data, all useful information about LED in automotive lighting is presented with interviews and a view of the horizon out to 2020.
We describe how advanced lighting technology is providing automotive designers with another tool to enhance vehicle brand identity. LED technology, in particular, is proving popular, although its relatively high price has relegated use to high-end vehicles and present many advantages over traditional light sources including lower energy consumption, longer lifetime, improved robustness, smaller size and faster switching. However, they require more precise positioning and heat management than traditional light sources.
With this document, I strive to share a complete overview on automotive lighting LEDs, presenting LED sources through their history, as well as electronic and optics management technologies, worldwide players with their different strategies. The report covers CHMSL, rear lighting multifunction, DRLs, and finally LED headlamps. The benefit of the technology and the future of LEDs are emphasized.
Exclusive interviews of three great minds and experts in automotive lighting complete this report with their comments on LED and its future: Dr Huhn, Audi general manager, lighting technology(to be seen next to this editorial) ; Dr Hamm, AL head of department, R&D lighting technology and Dr Neumann, Visteon R&D manager.
We end this report with our 2020 LED Vision, Conclusion and Suggestions.
