Ichikoh are raising the production capacity for automotive lights at their facility in China. The expansion targets a 50% increase in output at the company’s joint venture facility at Foshan, Guangdong Province (China) in order to meet rising demand from local Chinese market.
The Foshan facility operates as a joint-venture between Ichikoh and Valeo. Currently, the annual production capacity at the facility is 240,000 units (headlights and tail lights). Post expansion, the companies are targeting achieving an annual production level of 360,000 units by 2010.
Ichikoh have been increasing their presence in the Chinese market, as several OEMs are shifting production in the country to leverage the cost advantage. Moreover, China’s automotive demand is rapidly growing. Last week, Ichikoh announced that it was building a metal moulding plant in China due to open in 2010
