The Indian computer giant Satyam are intent on moving into automotive engineering. With the likes of Bosch in their sights, Satyam are now setting up their first engineering facility in Munich, Germany, which in its first phase will occupy 10 000 square metres.
Venkatesh Chandrasekaran, Satyam’s 50-person automotive engineering group manager, says “In 2 years we will [number] about 1000”. The average age of engineers and designers in his group is just 26 years.
The innovation group at Satyam with its 12 000 members finds engineering solutions in industries: for Airbus they develop software solutions, for BASF they analyse customers and for Ford they work on logistics.
