Volvo enjoys a long reputation for the safety of its vehicles. Now the company is targeting zero injuries and fatalities for drivers and passengers in its vehicles by 2020.
To achieve this lofty goal, the Swedish company is working with specialists in biomechanics and behavioural science in addition to traditional auto engineers.
Among the technologies Volvo will pursue are active safety systems that can take over some braking and steering functions to help avoid impending crashes.
