A new Harris Interactive survey of 12,000 U.S. adults conducted online this past December and January finds 50% of respondents express an interest in purchasing Blind Spot Detection technology for their next new vehicle, and that 29% that evaluated Lane Departure Warning technology show and interest in purchasing it — though the figure slips to 21 percent once the estimated market price of $400 is revealed.
The strong consumer reaction to both blind spot detection and lane departure warning technologies suggest that drivers are increasingly ready for this new suite of intelligent sensing equipment.
However, the survey also found drivers are not yet ready or willing to cede control to their cars.
