Sales in Germany plunged 20% year-on-year in December to 243,000 units. Full-year 2007 figures dropped as well, falling 9% from 3.46 in 2006 to 3,15 million units,
according to data published by the VDA automotive industry association.
2007 was the worst year since 1990.
Thankfully for German carmakers, 4.30 million cars last year were shipped abroad for a gain of 11%.
Domestic production as a result increased by 6 percent to almost 5.72 million vehicles.
