In this issue of your DVN Interior newsletter, we bring you an interview with Ni Jiawen, General Manager of Yanfeng Technology, who tells us about where the Chinese cabin is heading. Ambient lighting is no longer just decoration, he says; it is becoming an interface, an emotional signature, and an interaction tool.
Features like a lit roof are no longer only about creating a ‘wow’ effect, but about turning the headliner and panoramic roof into active surfaces. Laser engraving, transparent leather, light guideplates and new film technologies show that several technical routes are still open. The race is not over, but the direction is clear.
The DVN Beijing Auto Show report confirms this shift. Auto China 2026 shows that the interior has become the real field of differentiation: smart surfaces, zero-gravity seating, lounge architectures, illuminated CMF, translucent materials, and programmable scenography.
This will also be one of the key themes at DVN Shanghai on 8 and 9 September, during our workshop focused on the next evolution of the cabin, with specific attention to smart surfaces, seating, ambient lighting and CMF..
