Two weeks ago, we inaugurated a new DVN event concept: gathering OEM studios and R&D departments, design schools, and tier-1 and -2 suppliers to talk about design.
90 people joined in – not too big, not too small; it created a cozy atmosphere with great exchange and network, mixing the DVN lighting and interior communities. There were four round tables; two focused on lighting, and the other two focused on interior design and CMF. We had great support and collaboration from Laetitia Lopez, former head of Cadillac’s CMF team – a talented French designer who studied at the renowned Creapole design school and started some years ago at Faurecia.

DVN are a French company, I am French, Laetitia is French (though she’s lived in Detroit for ten years), and one of our moderators, Thomas Prevost, is French, the event was a nice piece of France in Michigan.

The first round table, moderated by Felix Urbina – a well-known C-level lighting expert in Michigan – focused on exterior design. To balance the discussion, Anthony Hostetler and Helgert Elezi (Lighting design lead at GM), talked with Eoin Ryan, U.S. Head of Forvia Hella pre-development, and Volker Plehn (smart panels, lighting, and trim at Sabic).
