It took me some time to gather all the information from our DVN week in China last month. A lot of visits, a lot of information released at the booths and during the 2-day conference. Now today I’m proud to bring you our report on the event, and you’ll find session videos and event pictures here.
The Chinese automotive market has continued to grow (up 6.6 per cent this year), and is expected (by S&P, at least) to stabilize in the coming years, which means consolidation will certainly happen. But the lighting market will continue to grow, for both exterior and interior. That is why we still see a highly dynamic market with new entrants popping up actively, as you’ll see in this week’s DVNewsletter.
I also see a lot of innovation in relation to design, and how to make it more efficient with simpler optical systems (films, optical layers on LEDs). Low cost and super-fast time to market require simpler design, and a lot of presentations were proposing new ideas, including new ways of working.
In parallel to that, regulations are changing in China in ways that will affect all automakers and make the business more and more exigent for OEMs and tier-1s. This is what I strive to cover this week – and that’s why this DVNewsletter is mainly focused on the Chinese market.
Sincerely yours,
