Special to DVN by Geoff Draper, GTB President
At the invitation of their Dutch member, GTB gathered for their 127th plenary session in Scheveningen, Netherlands with an impressive participation of 70 experts from 18 of the 19 GTB member associations from Europe, Asia, and America. New delegates joined the session, as interest in new subjects and new technologies continues to attract newcomers to the global GTB family of experts.
The session started with the General Assembly where the main topic was to agree on the revision of the GTB Statute. This was necessary following the decision at the 126th session at Lisbon last November, to change the role of the President and establish the new permanent career role of Secretary General with an enlarged secretariat. Davide Puglisi took his new position as GTB Secretary General on 1 January 2019, based in new headquarters at Torino, Italy. This was the first step in the transition to the new permanent structure with a secretariat strengthened by an additional technical secretary.
