The Intelligent Automotive Lighting conference, organised by the IQPC group, gathered around 50 participants at Mainz, Germany, last week.
Sasha Klapper from IHS Markit presented their evaluation and prediction for the automotive market. Car production from 2017 to 2030 is supposed to have a yearly average growth of +1.59%, just over half the +3% average over the last 50 years. Mild hybrids are predicted as the dominant solution for alternative propulsion, with a 60% share, with pure electric cars forecast at 20% in 2030.
The current market for lighting is estimated at USD $28.1bn, of which $21.2bn for headlamps and $6.9bn for rear lamps. For front lighting, the worldwide estimated set maker market shares by volume were presented as:
