Ten years after the dawn of DVN seems a fine time to review achievements. One decade ago, Driving Vision News was launched with the target to assemble the main vehicle lighting experts in a very difficult time—the global financial crisis—and study together how we could find solutions to develop our activities.
In the beginning only very few automakers and lighting suppliers joined DVN, became Gold members and the years 2008 and 2009 were difficult indeed (for us as well as for all of you!) But month upon month, year upon year, more and more companies came to understand the benefits of being DVN Gold members: the weekly news and views—over 6,000 articles and counting, the in-depth reports and profiles—122 and counting—and the DVN Workshops.
And the irreplaceable network of colleagues; another of our main goals has been to build a real lighting community, and today we can view ten years’ efforts on that front as a success. We’re seeing participation of 300–400 experts in the DVN Workshops and a community of 26 car makers, 38 set makers, 50 tier-2 suppliers, 19 universities, institutes, and consultants; plus regulators, standards-development experts, and practitioners of every stripe. All in all, around 1,000 individuals from 133 companies receive the full versions of the newsletters and reports; twice that many people receive a summary.
Around 5,000 attendees have come to the 16 DVN Workshops around the world.
These achievements were possible thanks to our very imotivated team of 10 people with a passionate spirit in Europe, North America, China, Japan, Korea, and Israel. During these last ten years, we haven’t missed a single week; we work to publish the news every Tuesday at 2pm (European time).
