After graduating from medical university, Sally Zhou started to work at Wujin Health and Nursing School as a teacher; She established Xingyu later on, working as its board chair and General Manager. Now the company mainly engage in R&D and manufacturing and sales of vehicle lighting. Ms. Zhou was kind enough to spend some time talking with us.
DVN; How and when did you start Xingyu? Could you describe the history and the stakeholders of the company and its profile?
Sally Zhou : Founded in 1993, with registered capital of RMB 40,000, Xingyu started with a dozen of staffs as a school-running factory. In 1997, Xingyu became a private enterprise and supplied lamps for passenger cars. As the automotive industry enjoyed a rapid development in Chinese market, Xingyu gradually expanded and went to public in SSE (the Shanghai Stock Exchange) in February 2011. The main shareholders are consisted of investment fund company and my family. Xingyu has a revenue of 2.4 billion RMB (about €330m) in 2015 with international car manufacturers and local Chinese car makers.
DVN: What are the main customers of XingYu in China? Do you have customers out of China?
S.Z.: Our customers are VW and Toyota JV companies in China, Honda, Nissan, GM, Ford, Mazda, Chery, GAC Motor, FAW Group, DPCA etc in China. We also have overseas projects with Nissan, PSA, and BMW .
