DVN presents below a paper of Audimobil, the magazine published for Audi employees. This paper emphasises the lever of headlight on the automotive brand.
“If the engine is the heart of the car, the headlamps are its eyes. They give the car a face and determine its character—dynamic or calm, friendly or aggressive.
At Audi, Dr. Wolfgang Huhn is responsible for the lighting of the vehicles—in fact for its distinctive light signature, its Night design. Since 2001, the native of Hesse leads the technical development of the “Light and Vision” department in Ingolstadt, and Dr. Wolfgang Huhn can claim he made a lot happen in the last ten years:
– in 2004 with the A8 W12 when Audi was the first automotive company to present a headlight with white LED light source DRL.
– in 2008 when the R8 was released as the world’s first vehicle with full LED headlamps.
– Also, last summer with the launch of the A1, competition was left thunderstruck, with only its deep red LED devilish lamps to be seen.
No wonder the Internet platform www.drivingvisionnews.com has named Dr Huhn last February the “Man of the decade”.
