Government delegates and industry representatives from all over the world are meeting this week at the United Nations in Geneva to discuss, debate, and decide the newest additions and modifications to regulations governing automotive lighting.
The working party known as GRE — Groupe des Rapporteurs d’Éclairage — operates within the framework of the U.N. Economic Commission for Europe, which promulgates vehicle and equipment safety standards applicable in virtually the entire developed world except for North America.
This week’s is the 59th such meeting since the GRE was established nearly 30 years ago.
Topics to be discussed, amongst many others, include daytime running lights, LED light sources for headlamps, and improvements to the regulations on fog lamps, headlamps, brake lamps, and bulbs.
