In 2007, the top reason for purchasing a car is Exterior styling, with 12.6 percent of buyers according J.D.Power study. Fuel economy and performance followed. The deal landed in fourth place, with 10% listing it as the top reason to buy a vehicle.
GM credits newer products and standard equipment such as the OnStar telematics system, XM radio and stability control for part of the shift in consumers’ reasons for buying a GM vehicle, a company spokesman says. He also points to “differentiated design” and higher quality.
