Visteon’s Blind Spot Monitoring System is intended to supplement the exterior side-view mirrors, while the first-to-market Rear Cross Path System can warn reversing drivers of oncoming vehicles.
The blind spot system detects when moving vehicles are adjacent to the driver’s vehicle, and alerts the driver. When the driver looks to the side-view mirror prior to an intended lane change, an illuminated icon indicates that there is a vehicle in the driver’s blind spot. The driver is not distracted by alerts for guard rails, medians, trees, fences or other stationary objects that do not pose a threat.
Visteon’s Rear Cross Path System is a parking lot aid that detects oncoming vehicles that might be hidden by cars parked on either side of the driver’s vehicle. The driver is alerted by an icon in the side-view mirror in addition to an audible alert.
