After our AEB workshop in Detroit and the EAC expo in Hangzhou – DVN co-hosted the lidar technology section – it is becoming clear that AEB improvements are urgently required. Not just for pedestrian safety after dark, but also for the L2+ automated driving systems fast expanding in China, still with limited safety performance (witness the recent Xiaomi accident). AEB performance is now a sales argument, and is showing up in advertisements; the new Xpeng G7 is just one example.
While we were in China for the EAC / Lidar Tech expo, we tried out some vehicles. Find our special report on Pony robotaxis and the Xpeng G6’s NOA feature.
Also in this edition, we bring you an interview with CEA/LETI, developing a low-cost concept for LWI sensors.
Don’t miss the next DVN event! It’s the 8th Lidar/ADAS Conference in Wiesbaden, Germany, on 19-20 November. Online registration is open.
We’re ever so glad you’re here with us in the DVN-Lidar/ADAS community. Enjoy this 40th newsletter!
All best,
