In just a couple of weeks, on 9-10 September, DVN will host the 2025 edition of our annual US Lighting Workshop in Livonia, Michigan, near Detroit. It’s the uppermost vehicle lighting symposium and expo in all North and South America, with participation from the States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and all over the world. The preliminary docket (still growing and being optimized) is here. The night before, on 8 September, there’ll be a barbecue and ride-and-drive demonstrations of cars with innovative new lighting designs and concepts – including the first ADB system on offer in the USA.
Lighting is, foremost, a safety system for the driver, and increasingly for ADAS sensors and cameras. Lighting systems and strategies for optimal safety are evolving by leaps and bounds. But more than just safety; lighting is also about style. It’s become a key differentiator for auto stylists, and it’s now a central element of brand DNA. That’s of particular importance in North America, with regulations and technical standards allowing wider design possibilities versus Europe and China.
Interior lighting, too, is fast evolving. It’s being pushed by new use cases and autonomous driving features, notably in China. The interior lighting session was a real success at the DVN Workshop in Japan shortly ago, so there’s an interior lighting session on the docket for Livonia — a welcome new addition to the well-proved resources and opportunities US DVN Workshops have been providing to attendees, speakers, and exhibitors for sixteen years now.
Regulatory sessions are hugely popular at DVN Workshops, and we’re lining up a great one — a forum to discuss hot topics like headlight glare, and support GTB and SAE initiatives to develop global technical requirements and overcome regulatory barriers. Panel discussions and expo booths will facilitate productive exchanges of information and ideas. And this year, we’re inviting a thoughtful selection of OEM designers to join the exhibition and show their latest ideas and innovations.
It will surely be yet another in an unbroken chain of better-and-better events, with extra relevance brought by the challenges facing our industry right now. In turbulent and uncertain times, there is great value in talking and listening and learning with one another, making new contacts and reinforcing existing ones, and forming and strengthening partnerships. This is what DVN Workshops are designed for. It’s what we do best. Come join us, won’t you? Already 38 exhibitors are confirmed with 7 newcomers (Infineon, Raffar, Swarovski, Analog devices, GVS, UVR, Hesien) that shows great interest in our events.

This week our newsletter is mainly focused on America’s lighting community. Earlier this year, Felipe Melhado joined Daniel Stern on DVN’s North American team to further our activities in the US, which is an innovative, competitive market with its own specificities and regulations.
Sincerely yours
