TRW have introduced a new range of safety systems equipped with camera and radar technology. Forward collision warning, electronic stability control and lane departure warning systems are among the new technologies.
The company have combined forward looking camera with a lane departure warning system, which satisfies two requirements within one system. The forward collision warning system offered by the company is available across a range of vehicles in radar and camera versions.
The radar based system features a low-cost, forward-looking 24GHz radar sensor capable of operating under all weather conditions. The company are also offering the forward collision warning system based on a monocular camera. The camera, capable of recognising objects is mounted behind the rear view mirror and is linked to a warning device which warns the driver through audio tones, visual warnings, a pulse in the brake pedal or a jerk of the seatbelt.
TRW’s technologies meet the newly established standards of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Under the new requirements, availability of the active safety technologies as standard or optional equipment will be listed on vehicle stickers to inform consumers.
