Sunon, a fan manufacturer straddling China and Taiwan, have traditionally supplied electric fans for the personal computer and general electronics market.
Now that LEDs are significantly altering the thermic aspects of headlamp design and implementation, Sunon are producing fans specifically for the automotive industry. The firm’s first automotive product was the “air-scarf”, a fan in the Mercedes SLK which provides warm air for the necks of driver and passenger.
Now Sunon are preparing for the headlamp market; LEDs emit their light forward but their heat rearward, so a fan is often required to move heat away from the rear of the headlamp housing where it would cause thermal overload, and up towards the front to help thaw frost, snow, and condensation from the lens.
