Volvo’s CitySafe system helps drivers avoid low-speed collisions in heavy traffic. The system, which will be fitted as standard equipment to the new XC60 crossover vehicles at the end of 2008, will be rolled out across all new Volvo models in the future.
Gerry Keaney, Senior VP and Head of Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Car Corporation, hinted that the system could also find its way into Ford vehicles in the future. CitySafe will be integrated into new Volvo products as they are released, helping Volvo maintain its safety innovation leadership role in the Ford brand roster. Keaney says “All safety innovations will be landed with Volvo…over a period of time these filter down into mass volume models. It would be a surprise if such things did not feature on Ford vehicles one day.”
