Morin says “The increasing use of industrial property tools is a sign of the creativity and dynamism of French companies”, and sees INPI’s role as critical in increasing French industrial competitiveness and combatting counterfeiting.
Three of France’s four leading patent filers are in the automotive sector: PSA Peugeot Citroën, Renault, and Valeo. The Valeo Group develops systems for cleaner, safer and more comfortable vehicles, invests 5.5% of its sales in Research & Development, and files over 550 new patents worldwide per year.
INPI is a self-financed public organization, under the aegis of the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment. It delivers patents and trademarks, and provides information on industrial property. The Institute is active in developing intellectual property policy and anti-counterfeiting actions.
