Simulation software accelerates development and decreases costs. Future Lighting Solutions, a company with extensive expertise in LED lighting technology, and Qfinsoft, specialists in electronics cooling systems, announce the release of QLed, the first thermal design software developed for the solid state lighting industry. QLed minimises the number of design cycles, reduces development costs and decreases time to market by eliminating the traditional trial-and-error approach to thermal design. The software guides users through step-by-step design wizards to select, place and simulate power LEDs mounted on FR-4 boards or MCPCBs. The user can integrate thermal vias, heat sinks, and fans to generate the most accurate transient or steady state thermal simulations. Jan Visser, President of Qfinsoft, says “In addition to generating extremely precise thermal simulation results, QLed also calculates the expected luminous flux produced by the LED.” And Patrick Durand, Worldwide Applications Manager for Future Lighting Solutions, says “QLed will revolutionise how the solid state lighting industry develops new products.”
