G.M. reported January 23, 2008 a total global sales of 9.369 million vehicles in 2007, very few higher than Toyota.
GM said its global sales rose 3 percent from a year earlier to sales of 9,369,524 vehicles, driven by strong growth in regions outside North America. A Toyota source told Reuters today the automaker came in at about 9.36 million in sales, just short of GM.
GM said the 2007 results were the 2nd best global sales total in the company’ and the 3rd consecutive year with more than 9 million vehicles sold.
Sales outside the United States came in at 5.5 million units.
- China: more than a million vehicles sold.
- Russia: sales doubled with 258,000 vehicles
- Brazil: half-million vehicles sold
- Europe: sales rose 8.9%
- North America: sales fell 6%
Since 1998, GM’s global sales have grown at an average annual rate of about 1.5 percent.
