‘Investor of the Year 2006’ by the Czech Department of Trade and Industry, Association of Foreign Investment (AFI) and development agency CzechInvest. The prize was awarded in the category of “Investments with the Greatest Innovation Potential” and recognizes Visteon-Autopal’s expanding portfolio of innovative development and engineering capabilities at its lighting and climate technical centres in Nový Ji?ín.
Both technical centers play a key role in the development, engineering and manufacturing of Visteon’s lighting and climate products for global vehicle manufacturers. As a part of Visteon’s global network of technical centers, the Czech team is responsible for development, prototyping and testing of lighting and climate applications for European car makers.
The investment projects were evaluated in four categories: investments with innovation potential, largest economic contribution – manufacturing investment, largest economic contribution – strategic services, and supplier of the year 2006. A total of 12 companies were awarded at this prestigious event.

Recent product innovations developed at Visteon-Autopal’s technical centers in Nový Ji?ín include alternative refrigerant components, high discharge (HID), advanced front lighting systems and new lighting systems based on LED technology (light emitting diodes).
The lighting technical centre in Novy Jicin currently employs 42 people in research and development and 153 in engineering. The climate technical centre employs 82 skilled engineers in Novy Jicin and 56 at the Hluk Climate centre.
The investment in Visteon’s Czech operations is part of the company’s global improvement plan which includes the transfer of manufacturing and engineering footprint to cost-competitive locations. By 2009, Visteon plans to have 75 percent of its manufacturing personnel and half of its engineering workforce in cost-competitive countries.
