The 90-millimetre module series “Premium” and “Performance” from Hella offer manufacturers optimum light output and design freedom

Lippstadt/Düsseldorf, August 2007. Versatile modules for vehicle lighting are becoming ever more attractive for manufacturers of motorhomes and caravans because they allow vehicles to be given a customized design. The new “Premium” headlight-module series with a diameter of 90 millimetres offers maximum light output for low beam and high beam from a single module, which is available in Bi-Xenon or Bi-halogen form, as desired. The change-over between low and high beam takes place via a space-saving actuator integrated into the housing. Alternatively, the new “Performance” modules are available as separate individual modules for low and high beam (with or without position light).
All 90-millimetre “Premium” and “Performance” modules have a non-patterned real-glass cover lens and a high-quality aluminium reflector. The lens is surrounded by a metallized ring. The sturdy plastic housing has waterproof plug-connections and a ventilation system, making the modules highly resistant to environmental influences such as dust or water. In the case of the halogen versions, bayonet bulb holders mean that rubber caps to seal the headlight are not necessary. They can be used universally and are suitable for 12-volt and 24-volt vehicle electric systems. In comparison with the previous 90 mm versions, the modules are characterized by improved illumination and increased light output.
“In comparison with the previous 90-millimetre modules, we have reduced the installation depth in the current range by around 20 millimetres. This opens up an enormous number of possibilities for manufacturers of motorhomes and caravans,” explains Bernd Siebert, the Product Manager responsible at Hella. “What is important is that during the development of vehicle-specific lighting equipment, such as the carrier frame and the cover, the country-specific equipment regulations are observed.”
The “Premium” and “Performance” modules are ECE type-approved. “Premium” versions with SAE type approval for the USA and type approvals for Japan are also part of the range.
