The vehicle lighting community includes automakers and lighting suppliers, obviously enough. Almost all the world's automakers are well and widely known (though some of the Chinese makers haven't yet broken out onto the world stage), but many lighting suppliers—some tier 1s; more tier 2s and research outfits—are not yet well enough known, even though they deserve to be. Facilitating strong and healthy networking in the community is DVN's core mission, so we're now working to shine some light on innovative, interesting groups, institutes, and companies.

We have already presented some of them and we are continuing with a Chinese lighting supplier, Anrui, whom we discovered at the recent DVN Shanghai Workshop. This week you'll find an overview of this company, who supply automaker customers including Geely and Chang'an. And we're presenting more lesser-known entities including a French research institute, a Spanish tier-2, and an interesting centre of expertise specialised in the integration of photonic technologies.

Automakers are busily transforming their priorities, operations, and activities to meet demands for electrification, autonomous driving, digitalisation, and car sharing. At the same time the gap will increase between automakers' future requirements for advanced lighting systems and tier-1 suppliers' capabilities and resources. It's surely going to be an all-hands-on-deck situation—nobody can afford to miss out on knowing who's making, studying, and doing what. We at DVN are here to help.

In the meantime, you can do some discovery on your own—take a look at the 2019 Shanghai Workshop page on the DVN website to see the expo booths, lecture slides, videos, and pictures. It is a wonderful tour to visit the workshop as you were.
When watching the videos, for English shift your computer's sound output fully to the left speaker; for Chinese shift to the right speaker—or use your headphones to choose one or the other side to hear.

Sincerely yours

DVN President
